HALFTIME: Nashville SC leads Sporting KC 1-0 thanks to Walker Zimmerman’s header

Halftime: NSH at SKC

Kansas City, Kan. - Nashville Soccer Club enters halftime up 1-0 against Sporting KC on Sunday night at Children’s Mercy Park.

Walker Zimmerman put the Boys in Gold ahead in the 15th minute on a thundering header from a corner kick. Randall Leal whipped the corner into the box and Zimmerman rose up to hammer it past SKC goalkeeper Tim Melia.

Leal was an offensive force throughout the half. His second-minute attempt from a close angle rang off the crossbar and away. In the 36’ minute, Leal took another dangerous shot from long range that Melia pawed over the bar. On the subsequent corner kick, Derrick Jones and others had a number of chances to put the ball in the net for a second goal, but the Sporting KC defense held firm to clear it after some chaotic moments.

Nashville SC had seven shots in the first half, four of which were on target. Sporting KC took six shots with two going on target.
