Renasant Recap: Nashville Soccer Club Maintains Eastern Conference Lead with 2-2 Draw at Inter Miami

• Nashville SC leads MLS and the Eastern Conference at 16W-3L-6D and 54 points
• The Boys in Gold lead Inter Miami by nine points in the Eastern Conference standings with nine games left to play

MIAMI, Fla. (Sept. 12, 2026) – MLS-leading Nashville Soccer Club maintained its nine-point lead over Inter Miami CF in the Eastern Conference standings with a come-from-behind 2-2 draw vs. the Herons Saturday night at Nu Stadium.

Sam Surridge opened the scoring in the fourth minute with assists from defenders Andy Najar and Jeisson Palacios. Inter Miami tied the match in the 19^th minute with an own goal and Lionel Messi gave the hosts the lead in the 62^nd minute before Surridge scored the game-tying goal in the 91^stminute to give the Boys in Gold a point on the road.  

Coming in clutch: Sam Surridge, who finished with his fifth multi-goal MLS performance of 2026, leads Nashville SC with 15 league goals this season and 17 across all competitions (MLS, Concacaf Champions Cup, Leagues Cup). The Boys in Gold are 7W-0L-2D in MLS play this season when the striker scores. 

Unbeaten in four: Nashville SC is unbeaten in four matches vs. Inter Miami this year across all competitions (MLS, Concacaf Champions Cup), including a 4-1 win at GEODIS Park on August 15 and a 1-1 draw at Chase Field that knocked Miami out of the Concacaf Champions Cup on March 18. 

Headed home: After three consecutive games on the road, the Boys in Gold will play three of their next four matches at GEODIS Park and are the only unbeaten team at home in MLS at 11W-0L-1D.
