COLUMBUS, Ohio - Nashville Soccer Club enters halftime all square with Columbus Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday night.
The opening 20 minutes were very back-and-forth with each team trying to establish itself in a tight match. In the 23’ minute, Columbus got its first good chance of the match with a ball in the box to Gyasi Zardes, who skied the shot over the bar.
In the 28’ minute, Nashville earned a golden opportunity when Columbus goalkeeper Eloy Room punched out a free kick straight to Aníbal Godoy, who rifled a shot that was cleared off the line by a Crew SC defender. Dave Romney and Dax McCarty each took follow-up shots that were also blocked in front of the goal.
Another build-up by Columbus in the 41’ minute looked dangerous, but Milton Valenzuela’s shot attempt missed high and wide.
