NASHVILLE - Nashville SC will put its seven-match home unbeaten run on the line on Friday night when it hosts the New England Revolution at Nissan Stadium.
The Boys in Gold are coming off of a decisive 3-0 win over FC Dallas on Tuesday night, which propelled Nashville to eighth place in the Eastern Conference. New England sits four points above Nashville in fifth place in the conference, so Friday’s match could have big playoff implications.

Revolutionary Rematch - This will be the second time this season Nashville has squared off with New England. The first matchup ended in a scoreless draw in Foxborough on October 3. Both defenses remained stout throughout that match, and Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis made six saves to earn the clean sheet.
Head Coach Gary Smith says he expects another tough test in a very different match than Tuesday’s drubbing of Dallas.
“What we know after an incredibly tough 90 minutes in New England is that this group coming in has all the qualities necessary to cause us a lot of problems,” Smith said. “They are an incredibly tough and competitive group, and with some really nice creative dimensions to their team. We will be confident after [Tuesday]’s victory. However, I think we will find it to be a very different encounter to what we saw on Tuesday.”
Golden Momentum - Nashville has earned at least a point in four of its last five matches. In its last two matches, the team has scored a total of six goals on its way to two wins. Those six goals also came from five different goal scorers, with the lone brace coming from Hany Mukhtar.
Nashville’s offense is feeling the momentum and midfielder Aníbal Godoy says they hope to keep it up against the Revolution.
“We’re in good shape,” Godoy said. “Everyone is in the same boat. There’s good competition inside the locker room. We’re still fighting and we’ll try to continue to play like this.”
Playoff Push - Nashville currently sits in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, five points above the playoff line with a match in hand on the three clubs above it. One of those three clubs above Nashville is New England, who is four points ahead of Nashville in fifth place.
Friday’s match could have a big impact on the playoff race, and defender Taylor Washington says the team could be clicking at the perfect time for a matchup like this.
“I think we’re implementing a lot of the stuff we’re working on in training,” Washington said. “There’s a lot more freedom in our build-up play, and it starts from a great defense as well. With Jhonder [Cádiz] in the mix now, Daniel Ríos coming back and Abu [Danladi] who’s been playing so well, we have so many attacking players coming into form at the right time. It’s a perfect time for this playoff push.”
