Dave Barnes is a singer/songwriter originally from Kosciusko, Mississippi who now calls Tennessee home. Dave is a Nashville music industry force having written chart-topping hits including Blake Shelton's Grammy-nominated track "God Gave Me You." He's also written songs for country superstars such as Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Lady A, Tim McGraw, Thomas Rhett, Brother Osborne and Hunter Hayes.
After moving to Knoxville, Tennessee at 16, Dave was introduced to soccer through his two best friends who played for the local high school team. Even though he grew up playing basketball and tennis, soccer was the first sport he really “got.” Dave soon became an Arsenal fan and shared his love of the game with his two sons. As a family, they are thrilled to have a local MLS team to cheer on here in Music City. Dave is looking forward to bringing his sons to more matches in the coming years so they can witness the high level of play. He’s excited to team up with Nashville SC and the club’s monthly guest DJ campaign to bring awareness to the diverse music genres that can be found right here in Nashville.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, we asked Dave about some of his favorite festive memories and traditions.
NSC: What is your Favorite Holiday Song?
Dave: THIS IS HARD. Probably the “Christmas Song,” though. Hard one to beat.
NSC: Favorite Holiday tradition?
Dave: I always love decorating the Christmas tree.
NSC: Favorite Nashville Holiday event?
Dave: Cheekwood is always amazing. We have a fun tradition with our kids where we stay at Gaylord Opryland Resort one night in a couple of weeks leading up to Christmas - it’s SO beautiful and fun - we all love it!
NSC: Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
Dave: OOOOOOOOOO. Christmas Eve. The anticipation is so fun. And I wrote a song about it called, Christmas Eve! Ha!
NSC: Do you participate in any Holiday community events?
Dave: My wife and I are supporters and lovers of Siloam Health, we were just a part of their fundraiser!
