Every week, Nashville’s Next recaps the weekend that was for the Nashville SC organization from the first team to Huntsville City FC, to the Nashville SC academy.

Nashville SC - The Boys in Gold went on a successful road trip to Orlando and then Toronto, picking up two important results in the midst of MAYnia.

Down in the Sunshine State, the Boys in Gold picked up a 3-2 win over Orlando City SC in Lamar Hunt US Open Cup play last Wednesday. Teal Bunbury forced on own goal before Ahmed Qasem made it 2-1. Wyatt Meyer went on to score an incredibly well worked goal to win the match and progress the team to the quarterfinals.

Nashville SC then traveled to BMO Field to take on Toronto FC. For the second time in his career, striker Sam Surridge scored a brace on Toronto’s turf, which ultimately made the difference on Saturday.

Sam’s performance earned him a spot on the Team of the Matchday.

Nashville travels to Ohio to take on the Columbus Crew in a midweek MLS matchup scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT this Wednesday. BJ Callaghan and his team then return to GEODIS Park on Saturday for the final MAYnia match against NYCFC.

Huntsville City FC - Huntsville City FC also traveled up to Toronto, picking up a similar 2-1 win over Toronto FC II. Moises Veliz netted the opener and his first goal in Huntsville colors with a precise striker from outside the penalty area before Christian Koffi scored the winner.

Huntsville’s next match is on Friday, June 6 at 7 p.m. CT at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium against Orlando City B.

Academy - The Gold Mine played its two final regular season matches last Thursday, going undefeated against Charlotte across two matches. The NSCU16 picked up a 1-0 win, while the NSCU18 drew 2-2 with the Carolina club.
