Before Nashville SC kicks off its season on Feb. 27, Major League Soccer’s EA Sports FIFA competition kicks off this week.
The 2022 eMLS season begins this Tuesday, Jan. 11 with League Series One pres. by Coca-Cola. This year, Nashville SC has a new competitor in Complexity Gaming star and three-time FIFA 12 Global Series North America champion Joksan, as well as a new game and a new console.
Here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 eMLS season, and this week’s League Series One:
What is eMLS?
eMLS is Major League Soccer’s eSports competition, in which professional EA Sports FIFA players compete using the latest iteration of the video game series. The season will feature 27 professional EA Sports FIFA players, each representing an MLS club on the virtual pitch as they compete for their share of the record-setting $75,000 season prize pool.
This eMLS season will feature EA Sports FIFA 22 and will be played on the PlayStation 5, marking eMLS’s debut season played on the next-generation console.
Who is Nashville SC’s eMLS competitor?
Nashville SC signed Joksan Redona, known in the FIFA community as Joksan, as its 2022 eMLS competitor. Joksan is a three-time FIFA 21 Global Series North America Champion and FIFAe Club World Cup 2020 Champion. He also represents Complexity Gaming, one of America’s premier and longest standing Esports organizations. Follow him on Twitter, Twitch and Instagram.

How will the 2022 eMLS season work?
The 2022 season will consist of three events: League Series One, League Series Two and eMLS Cup. League Series One and Two allow competitors to earn points towards qualification for eMLS Cup on March 13.
The top 12 eMLS players after the League Series events will compete in eMLS Cup. The first 11 competitors in the field will be determined by total season qualifier points from League Series events and the final participant will be the winner of the Last Chance Qualifier tournament, which takes place the night before eMLS Cup.

How do eMLS match rosters work?
Every eMLS player builds their roster using the FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) roster tool. They can select players from any league in the world, but each competitor must have five current MLS players on the virtual pitch at all times. Each competitor’s squad must feature their respective Club’s crest and kit when playing in all eMLS events.
