Commander Carlos Lara, a member of the Metro Nashville Police Department since 2008, rose through the ranks to become the Metro Police Department’s first Latino Captain. In 2021, Commander Lara was selected to lead the Police Department’s new Office of Community Outreach where he serves as Chief Community Officer and helps to improve police relationships with Nashville’s immigrant communities.
