After a largely successful run of home MAYnia matches at GEODIS Park, the Boys in Gold are headed down to the Sunshine State to take on Orlando City SC in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action.
Familiar Foe – The Boys in Gold have faced off against the Lions numerous times up until this point, but only once in US Open Cup play. The Boys in Gold ultimately fell 6-5 during a PK shootout after drawing 1-1 in regulation with Hany Mukhtar scoring for the Boys in Gold that day.
Road to the Round of 16 – Nashville SC entered this season’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the Round of 32, hosting fellow Tennessee side Chattanooga Red Wolves at GEODIS Park. Josh Bauer’s first half strike was the lone goal that propelled the Boys in Gold to the Round of 16.
Orlando put five goals past the Tampa Bay Rowdies to advance to the Round of 16. 16-year-old Gustavo Carballo scored twice in that match, making him the Lions’ leading goal scorer in Open Cup play this season.
On the Road - Following Wednesday’s Open Cup matchup, Nashville is headed to BMO Field to take on Toronto FC in MLS action.
