Nashville Soccer Club Receives up to $500,000 in General Allocation Money from Charlotte FC in Exchange for Daniel Ríos

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2022) – Nashville Soccer Club announced today it has received $350,000 in 2022 General Allocation Money (GAM) with a conditional $150,000 in 2023 GAM if certain performance metrics are achieved from Charlotte FC in exchange for forward Daniel Ríos, the club’s first Major League Soccer signing. Additionally, Nashville SC will receive 10% of any future transfer fee of the Mexican international.  

“Daniel is a legacy at our club as our first player signed and will be remembered fondly for that. He is a part of the club’s history, and we wish him and his family the very best in this new opportunity in Charlotte,” said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs. 

Following two seasons with Nashville SC in the USL Championship, Ríos joined the club as its first MLS signing on Nov. 20, 2018. While in the USL Championship, Ríos became the first player to ever score 20 goals or more in back-to-back seasons. At the MLS level, Ríos scored five goals in 30 appearances over two seasons.  

Nashville SC is set to open its 2022 season against Seattle Sounders FC at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday.
