FRISCO, Texas (August 16, 2020) - Nashville SC and FC Dallas played to a 0-0 scoreline after 45 minutes on Sunday night at Toyota Stadium, but it wasn’t for a lack of chances.
The match was delayed for over three and a half hours due to severe weather in the Frisco area, but the players took the pitch and kicked off at approximately 11:07 p.m. CT. The match started with a lively pace on both ends and Nashville SC earned the first good chance of the half with a Hany Mukhtar free kick from just outside the box in the 9’ minute. His attempt curled just wide of the right post.
Two minutes later, new FC Dallas signing Franco Jara narrowly missed a diving header in the box in the 11’ minute off the foot of Paxton Pomykal. Nashville responded a few minutes later with a Dax McCarty cross into the box in the 17’ minute, but Dominique Badji’s header sailed wide.
Nashville kept the pressure on in the 32’ minute when Alistair Johnston rocketed a shot saved by Jimmy Maurer, and the rebound by Randall Leal was saved as well. Following the corner, Johnston lofted a cross to Mukhtar but the header was saved once again.
