Halftime reset: Nashville SC offense comes to life to take 3-1 lead vs. Atlanta United

Halftime NSH 3 - 1 ATL

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Have you caught your breath yet?

Nashville SC rode an offensive onslaught to a 3-1 halftime lead against Atlanta United FC at Nissan Stadium on Saturday night. It’s the first time Nashville has scored more than one goal in a match in Major League Soccer.

The Boys in Gold got to the attack right away and scored off a corner kick in the first minute of the match. Dominique Badji got to the end of a Dax McCarty header at the back post to take the lead. It was his first goal for Nashville SC.

Atlanta recovered well and eventually found the equalizer in the 19’ minute when an Ezequiel Barco free kick was nodded in by Jeff Larentowicz. However, Nashville got back to the attack and continued to pressure the Atlanta defense.

In the 28’ minute, a turnover off a throw-in led to Hany Mukhtar’s first goal in MLS. He took a brilliant feed from Badji and tucked it past the goalkeeper. Nashville continued to attack and got a third goal from McCarty in the 36’ minute after Dan Lovitz sent in a brilliant cross from the left flank.
