Preview of the Playoffs – With three of the final four matchups being Eastern Conference foes who have already clinched playoff spots, Head Coach Gary Smith and the Boys have an early opportunity to scout potential playoff opposition while fine-tuning and refining details necessary to win.

“These can be seen as free playoff games,” said Smith. “There’s a lot of to be taking out of this, lots of confidence to be taken out of this leading up to the postseason. We’re at home and we want to try and be in a better position in the standings for obvious reasons, but the most important thing on Wednesday is to put ourselves back into a position where we feel confident; making sure that all the boxes have been ticked moving towards the postseason. Players healthy, players confident, players inspired, and players that believe that we can move forward and get ourselves back to another final and win.”

“I love that we have these games against these opponents during this time to help prepare us for the playoffs,” said Defender Jack Maher. “This is what we want. We want the ability to play these difficult games, especially leading up to the playoffs. We want to get on a roll. The teams that win championships usually have that momentum going into the playoffs, and that’s what we want against the best teams. I’m looking forward to it.”

Balancing a Busy Schedule – The Boys in Gold have had a very busy season so far, with a run in the U.S. Open Cup and Leagues Cup Final appearance, totaling 40 matches at this point in the season. Defender Jack Maher explains what it takes to stay ready, fit and energized for such a long season down the stretch before the playoffs.

“Balancing out our schedule is a huge factor into the preparation that we have every week. We have guys on this team that handle and treat their bodies incredibly well. We have the facilities and staff necessary to have these quick turnarounds,” said Maher. “We have all the resources to put ourselves above teams whenever we have to play, so that doesn’t distract us.”
