1 – FC Cincinnati has led the race for the Supporters Shield for the majority of the 2023 season, and the Ohio club enters the matchday with 48 points and an 8-point buffer at the top of the table. Striker Brandon Vazquez and center back Matt Miazga will be available for selection after Panama knocked out the USMNT in the Concacaf Gold Cup. Cincinnati’s main danger man is Luciano Acosta, who leads the team with 11 goals and seven assists.

“We know that we’re going to the best team in the league in this moment in time,” said midfielder Dax McCarty. “We’ve got full respect for what they’re capable of, full respect for what their team is and how well they’re doing this year. We’ll be ready to step on the field and give [them] a game. I know we’re [going to] have a lot of people from Nashville traveling up to Cincinnati, so I’m excited for the game and I’m excited for the possibility of taking back three points form them at their home turf.”

Depth on the backline – After fullbacks Shaq Moore and Dan Lovitz received red cards against Philadelphia on Wednesday, Nashville SC will be relying on the squad depth for the trip to TQL Stadium.

“I’ve got full faith in every single guy in our locker room to be able to step up when their number’s called and put in a good performance,” McCarty said. “I don’t think there’s any doubt in my mind that whoever steps on the field against Cincinnati is [going to] be ready to and is [going to] be at the level that is required to get a good result.”
