FIFA World Cup Roundup: Tracking Walker Zimmerman and Shaq Moore in Qatar

The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is finally here.

Nashville SC will have two representatives on the U.S. Men’s National Team: Walker Zimmerman and Shaq Moore. Nashville joins Seattle Sounders FC, Leeds United FC and Fulham FC as the only clubs with two or more players representing the U.S. at this World Cup.

The U.S. has been drawn into Group B with Wales, England and Iran. The Stars and Stripes will face off against each team once in a round-robin format, with the top two in the group advancing to the knockout stage.

All 2022 FIFA World Cup matches will air on FOX or Fox Sports 1, as well as the Telemundo family of networks and Peacock in Spanish.

Match 3: United States 1 IR Iran 0

The USMNT defeated IR Iran in their group stage finale to advance to the Round of 16, with Christian Pulisic scoring the lone goal in the 38' minute. Walker Zimmerman and Shaq Moore entered the match together in the 82' minute to ensure a clean sheet and a spot for the United States in the knockout stage. Zimmerman imposed his will in the air with a number of crucial headers along with a goal line clearance to secure the three points. Moore's presence was felt on both ends of the pitch as he had two passes into the final third and two clearances. The U.S. finishes second in Group B and will face Group A winners Netherlands in the Round of 16 Saturday morning at 9 a.m. CT.

Match 2: United States 0 England 0

In the most anticipated soccer match of the year in the United States, the USMNT earned a 0-0 draw against England. Walker Zimmerman played all 90 minutes at center back, making a crucial block on England forward Harry Kane in the 10’ minute. He also made five recoveries and two clearances en route to the clean sheet. Right back Shaq Moore made his FIFA World Cup debut as a substitute in the 78’ minute, helping to see out the clean sheet with a headed clearance in the box in stoppage time. With the draw, the U.S. now controls its own destiny to advance to the knockout rounds with a win over Iran next Tuesday.

Match 1: United States 1 Wales 1

The USMNT played to a 1-1 draw against Wales in its opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Tim Weah scored the opening goal in the 36’ minute for the U.S. Walker Zimmerman played all 90 minutes with a 94% passing accuracy, six clearances, four headed clearances and two recoveries. The U.S. will look to build on the opening performance in a crucial clash with England this Friday.
