Nashville SC Academy U12 Boys Team Plays First-Ever Tournament

Academy GA Cup Preview, 11.27.19

U12 ACADEMY SQUAD WILL BE FIRST EVER TEAM TO REPRESENT CLUB COMPETITIVELY

NASHVILLE – Some of the best youth soccer players in the state of Tennessee will make Nashville SC history this Thanksgiving weekend in Atlanta.

On Friday, Nov. 29, the Nashville SC Academy U12 Boys team will take the pitch for the very first time at the U12 Generation adidas Cup, an elite tournament involving MLS-affiliated U12 academy teams.

Composed of U12 boys from seven local youth clubs, this roster will be the first ever team to represent Nashville SC competitively, and Academy Director Jamie Smith could not be more excited.

“We’ve put a lot of work into the past couple of months to build a framework and structure for our first group,” Smith said. “To be part of the club and to receive the support we’ve received so far from our ownership, staff and more importantly from everyone in the soccer community in the State of Tennessee has been incredible. I’m honored to represent the club and wear our crest for the first time.”

Nashville SC’s group for the tournament features some of the most prominent and robust MLS academies, including New York Red Bulls and FC Dallas, and Smith is looking forward to giving Nashville’s kids a world-class experience as part of the Academy’s first-ever competitive matches.

When this Thanksgiving weekend tournament wraps up, Smith hopes it will represent a strong foundation for an Academy that will transform the youth soccer scene in Tennessee and seek to produce the Nashville SC stars of tomorrow.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing how it comes together this weekend,” Smith said. “To represent an MLS Academy is an amazing experience for these boys. We want them to feel the uniqueness and exciting opportunity they have in their hands, and show them how when they are willing to outwork themselves on and off the pitch, act with high integrity and work together as a group, they can reach a very special step in their development.”
