NASHVILLE – Nashville SC is showing just how good it really is as the club is currently riding a 10-game unbeaten streak, North American professional soccer’s longest active stretch. The streak dates all the way back to April 14th, the last time Nashville SC lost a game of any kind.
During that time, the club has traveled all over the map, but that hasn’t kept it from continuing to rack up points. Nashville SC has defeated two amateur teams, seven USL opponents, and even a MLS side in the Colorado Rapids en route to 10 results without a loss. The stretch by no means easy has been easy as Nashville has played half of its matches on the road.
Nashville’s offense has been firing on all cylinders through the stretch, having scored an impressive 16 goals. Not only has Nashville been a legitimate threat offensively, but keeper Matt Pickens and the back line have been nearly impenetrable allowing just six goals in the 10 games, and never more than one in any game during the streak.
So, how has Nashville SC done it?
First and foremost, Nashville is making some noise in the USL. Nashville has gone on this streak despite having the toughest schedule in the entire Eastern Conference. Nashville has a chance to match the best streak the league has seen this season at 11 games, set by Eastern Conference foe Charleston earlier this season. Charleston saw its streak broken in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup with a 3-0 loss to Atlanta United FC.
The run has vaulted Nashville into sixth place in the Eastern Conference, just three points back from second place.
It doesn’t stop there. The squad is on top of elite company, joined by some top MLS squads for the longest unbeaten streak in North American professional soccer.
MLS sides FC Dallas and Sporting Kansas City have seen similar streaks this season both dating back to May 5th. Dallas currently boasts an eight-game unbeaten streak having scored an impressive 15 goals while allowing just eight during that stretch. Similarly, Sporting KC has been undefeated on the pitch for seven games due in part to a stifling defense that has allowed just two goals since its streak began.
To add some drama, these streaks will be on the line this weekend as FC Dallas and Sporting KC meet for a Saturday night match.
As if that company wasn’t elite enough, Nashville has the chance to join some of the best from across the Americas this weekend. Deportivo Toluca F.C., who finished first in Liga MX, Mexico’s top flight of soccer, had an 11-match unbeaten streak through the middle of its season. Nashville could match that number with a win or draw on Saturday against North Carolina FC at home.
Nashville SC isn’t just good by USL standards. There’s no hotter team on the continent at the moment. If you want to catch the hottest team North of the Equator and West of the Atlantic Ocean, get your tickets at NashvilleSC.com/tickets.
