2018 MLS SuperDraft pick adds to forward depth

NASHVILLE (Feb. 9, 2018) – Nashville SC of the United Soccer League (USL) made three more player additions ahead of its friendly with Atlanta United on Saturday, February 10. Forward Alan Winn, midfielder Ian McGrath and keeper Micah Bledsoe will be in blue and gold.

Winn, a 21-year old Texas-native, signed with Nashville SC after being selected 25th overall at the 2018 MLS SuperDraft by Colorado Rapids. Winn played as a forward at the University of North Carolina from 2014-2017. He led the team with 11 goals and two assists in his senior season along with being named a a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American while leading the Tar Heels to the NCAA Men’s College Cup in 2017 for the second consecutive season.

Coach Smith's Thoughts: "Alan joins us after being drafted by the Rapids.  He will be an attacking wide player who excels when running at defenses and using his individual ability to break beyond defenses.  He's a big talent that we are delight to have attracted from an MLS franchise."

McGrath, 21, comes to Nashville after playing for the University of Evansville from 2014-2017. McGrath scored a team-high 11 goals in 2016 with the Purple Aces. McGrath is familiar with scoring in Nashville as he scored the game-winner against Belmont University in September of 2015. He was a two-time All-Region performer and led Evansville in goals and points as a senior with 12 and 30, respectively.

Coach Smith's Thoughts: "Ian gives the team versatility in both midfield and defense.  He has great competitive attributes and is dominant aerially.  His college appearances showed that he also has an eye for goal from midfield."

Bledsoe, 23, joins Nashville SC after signing with Louisville City FC in March of 2017. He is familiar with the Nashville soccer scene, spending four years playing for Lipscomb University. As a freshman, he was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman team after finishing 42nd in the NCAA in total saves. The Cincinnati, Ohio native started 52 games in his four-year career with the Bisons before signing with Louisville City FC.

Coach Smith's Thoughts: "Micah completes our goalkeeper depth.  A young and talented GK, Micah has the right physical and mental attributes to be a top GK.  He will have terrific role models in Matt Pickens and CJ Cochran to work with and learn from. His experience as part of Louisville's roster last year will also serve him well as he challenges for a first team shirt."

The three players are already training with the team and will be available to play against Atlanta United on Saturday.
