TAMPA – After helping the club earn a pair of clean sheets this week, Nashville Soccer Club defender Forrest Lasso was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 23 of the 2019 season.
Lasso started both matches this week on the backline and made a tremendous impact in both a 4-0 win over Hartford Athletic and a 0-0 draw with Bethlehem Steel FC. He made 20 recoveries, won 13 of 18 duels and 8 of 9 aerial duels while completing 113 of 139 passes across both matches.
He was also given the captain’s armband early in the match against Hartford after captain Michael Reed went down with a leg injury. Lasso kept the armband for Saturday’s draw with Bethlehem.
Since being acquired on loan from MLS’ FC Cincinnati, Lasso has helped the club maintain a five-match unbeaten run and a five-match clean sheet streak while paired with fellow defender Jimmy Ockford.
In addition to Lasso’s appearance in the Team of the Week, forward Daniel Ríos was named to the Team of the Week bench after scoring a goal and adding an assist in the win over Hartford.
