NASHVILLE – Fans from around the city came to East Park Wednesday for a day of soccer at Nashville SC’s Pop-Up Pitch. The summer hype surrounding the club and the sport in general makes the Fan Jam Series all the more fun, garnering support from communities in Nashville and beyond.
A local family from Dixon, Tenn. made the 45-minute trip to East Nashville as a way to break up their routine of outings during summer break. Brooke B. brought her three kids and a family friend to the Pop-Up Pitch, and knew that the event would be the perfect field trip for her soccer-loving family.
“We saw the article through social media that this was going on today and we thought that this would be something different to do,” she said. “They’re on summer break, so we’ve got time to do something different. Everybody can go to the pool any day, but it was important we tried this today.”
Brooke’s son Caleb sported a white Juventus kit and his friend Parker stood proudly in his black Messi jersey while they played in a three-v-three game. Out of breath and with smiles on their faces, the two took a quick water break to rehydrate and get soccer balls painted on their arms and had just enough time to express how much they enjoy the game.
“I like watching soccer,” said Caleb. “I like to watch it so that when I play it, I can try to get better. We just played around and had fun today.”
“We’ve been watching the updates since it was first announced two years ago, and we saw the breaking news and we all texted each other and said, ‘Oh my gosh! It’s finally happening,’” she said. “So we are super excited about it. The local sport is growing. You can see it. You can see it when you play club soccer, when you play rec soccer. Nashville’s growing. I think Nashville’s the perfect city for it."
Brooke said that attending Pop-Up Pitch with her family has made them feel more connected to the club and gave her kids new experiences that will make them even bigger Nashville SC supporters.
“They came and loved all the free swag that was going on,” she continued. “They are ready to hang it all up in their room and put it on their laptops. That’s all they will talk about going home is when they’re going to get to go to a game.”
Nashville SC’s Fan Jam Series is an ideal way for fans of all ages to join the summer party. Whether it’s a watch party or Pop-Up Pitch, all are welcome to attend as the club celebrates soccer every week with giveaways, autograph signings and restaurant deals.
