Lineup Notes: Nashville SC at Birmingham Legion FC

Pickens gets the start in goal for the nationally televised match in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM – Nashville SC unveiled its matchday squad and Starting XI before its Wednesday night USL Championship match against Birmingham Legion FC.

The Starting XI includes:

Keeper: Matt Pickens

Defenders: Justin Davis, Bradley Bourgeois, Ken Tribbett and Darnell King

Midfielders: Michael Reed, Matt LaGrassa and Bolu Akinyode

Forwards: Alan Winn, Kharlton Belmar and Daniel Ríos.

The bench will include keeper Connor Sparrow, defenders Liam Doyle and Taylor Washington, midfielders Derrick Jones and Lebo Moloto, and forwards Tucker Hume and Ropapa Mensah.

A few notes about the Starting XI:

Keeper

  • Matt Pickens will make his seventh start of the season.
  • Both Sparrow and Matt Pickens have rotated two starts apiece so far this season.

Defense

  • Justin Davis makes his ninth start of the season.
  • Bradley Bourgeois makes his sixth start of the season and his first USL Championship start since May 8 vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies.
  • Ken Tribbett makes his 11th start of the season. He has started in all but one league match so far this season.
  • Darnell King makes his fifth total start of the season and his first in league play since May 8.

Midfield

  • Michael Reed will be the captain and makes his seventh start of the season.
  • Matt LaGrassa will start in the midfield. He has started every USL Championship match so far this season and recently made his club-leading 50th appearance for Nashville SC.
  • Bolu Akinyode will make his seventh total start and his first in league play since May 8.
  • New acquisition Derrick Jones will be on the bench, making his first appearance in the Nashville squad in league play.

Forward

  • Daniel Ríos makes his 12th start. He has started in every league match for Nashville SC this season.
  • Kharlton Belmar makes his 12th start of the season for Nashville. He has appeared in every match so far this season.
  • Alan Winn makes his fourth start of the season.
