NASHVILLE (June 17, 2017) – Nashville SC U23 returned home Saturday night after a long road trip that saw them play 5 games in 10 days and take 6 of the possible 15 points. NSC U23 appeared extremely happy to be back home, defeating in-state rival Memphis City FC by a score of 7-0 to stay undefeated at home.
The non-league, in-state friendly match featured a half strength Memphis City side. Nashville SC took full advantage and put on an impressive display of ball possession and attacking throughout the evening.
Memphis City FC looked to capitalize early on with a threatening shot in the opening minutes but the home team quickly tipped the scale in their favor taking control of possession and playing in the Memphis City FC half for the remainder of the contest. In only the 7th minute, Blake Wilson finished a cross served up by Ivan Alvarado heading it past the Memphis City keeper. The home team continued to dominate the first half with Kyle McLagan heading in a Johnny Heckman cross and Fletcher Ekern finishing an unassisted goal for a halftime score of 3-0.
The 2nd half became the Ekern and Heckman show with the two players connecting on the next 3 goals. Heckman would score 2, both assisted by Ekern, and Ecker would score one assisted by Heckman. Tony Doellefeld would finish the scoring for the night putting a breakaway goal under the goalkeeper in the 67th minute.
Nashville SC continues at the top of the table and undefeated at home as it goes into the final 3 home games.
